School Information Danville District 118 Buildings are Closed per Governor's Executive Order for the 2019-20 school year. Remote learning has begun and will continue for the remainder of the year. Click Here for our Weekly Remote Learning Plans Click Here for all of Mark Denman and District 118 updates regarding the Covid-19 closure Student Hours 7:50 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Breakfast served at 7:25 a.m. 2019-2020 Traditional Calendar Attendance Policy In the event of any absence, the student’s parent or guardian is required to call the school at 217/444-3208 before 7:50 a.m. to explain the reason for the absence. If a call has not been made to the school by 9:30 a.m. on the day of a student’s absence, a school official and the Alert Now system will call the home to inquire why the student is not at school. If the parent or guardian cannot be contacted, the student will be required to submit a signed note from the parent or guardian explaining the reason for the absence. Once a student has reached a total of six (6) absences (excused by parent and unexcused), any additional absences will require official documentation explaining the reason for the student’s absence. Illinois law requires that whoever has custody or control of any child between six (6) and seventeen (17) years of age (unless the child has already graduated from high school) shall assure that the child attends school in the 6 district in which he or she resides, during the entire time school is in session. Illinois law also requires that whoever has custody or control of a child who is enrolled in the school, regardless of the child’s age, shall assure that the child attends school during the entire time school is in session. School Report Card The Illinois State Board of Education has prepared a traditional report card, as well as a user-friendly and easy to read report card summary for each school, the Illinois Report Card at a Glance. The new Report Card at a Glance includes summarized information, details on school programs and awards, as well as a link to data from the 5Essentials survey about the district’s learning conditions. State of Illinois Registered Sex Offender Information Information on registered sex offenders is available on the State of Illinois website, http://isp.state.il.us/sor/ . This information is being provided in accordance with the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act-Notification to Parents (Public Act 94-994). Erin's Law Erin's Law is named after childhood sexual assault survivor, author, speaker and activist Erin Merryn. Erin's Law (in Illinois, Public Act 96-1524) mandates that Illinois public schools provide training to certified staff on prevention of child sexual abuse. It also mandates that public school children pre-kindergarten through 12th grade be educated on how to protect themselves from sexual abuse. Students learn age-appropriate techniques to recognize child sexual abuse and how to tell a trusted adult. Any questions or concerns can be address by building administrators, guidance counselors or school social workers.
